The Original Idea

Brainstorming

Brainstorming

These mindmaps show the brainstorming processes we performed when finding ideas for our film. We looked at typical conventions of social realism but also took into consideration that we wanted to focus the story around the vulnerability of homeless young girls.

The Storyline

The Storyline

Our original idea was to have our main character Lily to be a young girl from a well off background when her parents were tragically killed in a car crash, due to the time limit on our film we wouldn't have had enough to fit in the car crash scene. Our other character ' The stranger' was going to be seen as a saviour but as our film is based on the social realism genre we took the chance to twist this and make the man increasingly suspicious throughout.

Making Changes

Making Changes

Whilst editing our film we had to make a few sacrifices in order to keep the film below 5 minutes. Though the original storyline got great feedback, there wasn't enough time to complete it all and compact it into a 5 minute short film. However, saying this our new storyline in fact appealed even more to our consumers.

Naming Our Film

Naming Our Film

We needed to think of a name for our film that reflects our storyline. We decided on Hereafter as our title name, it portrays the most dramatic moment of our film, which is the cliff hanger in the ending scene. This is where the stranger traps the helpless girl within the same room making the audience guess here after.
